Ji-Myung Ahn, of Seolmyeong Korean Medicine Clinic (Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Republic of Korea), has been honored with the 2025 Excellence in Scholarship Award by Healthcare Research and Practice (HRP), the official international E-Journal of the Global Health Research Network (GHRN).
The Excellence in Scholarship Award is presented annually to authors whose publications demonstrate outstanding academic rigor, originality, and clinical relevance.
Recipients are selected through a comprehensive evaluation process conducted by the HRP Editorial Board and Scientific Committee.
Dr. Ahn received this distinction for his article entitled
“Daejang-hwan for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders: Therapeutic Effects Through Regulation of Gi-Gi Seung-Gang and Autonomic Symptom Improvement.”
The awarded study presents a clinical observational analysis of patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome, functional dyspepsia, and chronic constipation.
The findings demonstrate significant improvement in gastrointestinal symptoms accompanied by concurrent alleviation of autonomic nervous system–related symptoms.
By integrating traditional Korean medicine concepts—particularly the regulation of Gi-Gi Seung-Gang—with contemporary perspectives on the gut–brain axis and autonomic regulation, the study offers a compelling integrative framework bridging classical medical theory and modern clinical science.
The GHRN Academic Committee commented,
“This study exemplifies scholarly excellence by translating traditional medical theory into a modern clinical framework, providing meaningful insights with real-world applicability.”
Healthcare Research and Practice (HRP) is the official international journal of the Global Health Research Network (GHRN), dedicated to advancing global healthcare research and strengthening the connection between scientific evidence and clinical practice. Through its annual Excellence in Scholarship Award, HRP recognizes exceptional scholarly contributions that demonstrate both academic excellence and practical clinical impact.
