Dr. Yong Suk Jeong, Ph.D., of Pohang Stroke and Spine Hospital, has been honored with the Excellence in Scholarship Award by the official E-Journal of the 2025 GHRN Conference, Healthcare Research and Practice (HRP).
This prestigious award is presented to a select group of outstanding papers published in HRP following the 2025 GHRM Annual Conference. Award recipients are chosen through a rigorous evaluation process conducted by the HRP Editorial Board and Scientific Committee, based on academic rigor, originality, and clinical impact.
Dr. Jung received this honor for his article published in Healthcare Research and Practice, Vol. 1, No. 2 (2025), pp. 4–21, entitled “Primary PCI in a 78-Year-Old Female Patient With STEMI Due to Total Occlusion of Distal RCA: A Case Report.”
The awarded study presents a detailed case report of a 78-year-old female patient with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) caused by complete occlusion of the distal right coronary artery (RCA). The paper systematically analyzes the clinical decision-making process and interventional strategy involved in performing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) under a complex, high-risk clinical scenario.
By offering a clear and structured account of real-world interventional management, the study provides practical clinical insights applicable to cardiovascular intervention practice. In particular, it contributes valuable evidence regarding treatment strategies, procedural safety, and therapeutic efficacy in elderly patients—an increasingly important population in contemporary cardiovascular care.
The GHRM Academic Committee commented, “This paper exemplifies scientific rigor, clinical relevance, and meaningful impact on real-world medical practice, fully meeting the criteria for the Excellence in Scholarship Award.”
Healthcare Research and Practice (HRP) is the official international E-Journal of the Global Health Research Network (GHRN). Dedicated to bridging global healthcare research and clinical practice, HRP annually recognizes exceptional scholarly achievements through its Excellence in Scholarship Award following a stringent peer-review and evaluation process.
