This week, I participated in a series of meetings with a buyer from Saudi Arabia interested in launching facial mask products in the Saudi market. My role was to serve as a translator during visits to several cosmetics factories specializing in facial mask production.
During the meetings, we discussed various aspects of product development and market entry, including formulation, packaging, pricing, production capabilities, and halal certificati
on – an essential requirement for entering the Saudi Arabian cosmetics market. The buyer emphasized the importance of halal-compliant ingredients and processes.
I was also introduced to industry-specific terms such as MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity), OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), and ODM (Original Design Manufacturer). Hearing these terms used in real business contexts helped me understand how product manufacturing and export planning are carried out.
Outside of business meetings, I accompanied the buyer on a cultural tour of Changdeokgung Palace, supporting communication throughout. This experience provided insight into how international buyers navigate both business and cultural environments while exploring new market opportunities.

Overall, it was a valuable opportunity to observe firsthand how cosmetic products are evaluated, negotiated, and prepared for global distribution.
